Darryl Omar Freeman, is a University Faculty Senator and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Ethnic Studies at California State University, Sacramento. He is an accomplished writer, speaker, and social/political issues researcher. His scholastic work focuses on issues of public policy transformation and racial/ethnic identity development in the United States. “American Diversity; Exploring Our Ethnic Mosaic” is his third publication project regarding issues of social/political justice and multicultural identity. “Native American Diversity; Exploring Their Contributions to the Developing American Society” is in progress for Fall 2021 publication with Great River Learning Publishing a subsidiary of Kendall Hunt Publishing.
He has supported and contributed administrative service with several community organizations in the city of Sacramento including 30 years of service with the Loaves and Fishes organization serving the hungry and homeless. For the last ten years Professor Freeman has been a Board member and supported The Center for African Peace and Conflict Resolution which provides peace and scholarship initiatives in Africa and the U.S. For 22 years Professor Freeman and his wife Carole Bodnar have supported the World Vision organization activities creating economic development and educational initiatives in the country of Ethiopia. He is a supporter of My Sisters House Sacramento, an organization that serves Asian and Pacific Islander and other underserved women and children impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. He also is a member and supporter of Sacramento’s Crocker Art Museum which is endeavoring to increase the outreach to the diverse population of the Sacramento area. |
